  • instructor" courses. When I took their training, I knew absolutely nothing about ToolBook and so it was a great way to come up to speed quickly. I still reference the CD for more advanced topics that I didn't use initially.
  • Definitely get Platte Canyon's Learning & Mastering ToolBook CD-ROM training course. The great thing about it is that it covers beginner to advanced topics so while you will find it valuable today in getting started with ToolBook, you will also refer to it in the future when you are interested in learning more about OpenScript and some of the more complicated aspects of ToolBook.
  • I've got to second Jocelyn's recommendation for "Learning and Mastering ToolBook Instructor"! A great product from every perspective. The L&M module itself is an excellent example of what you can accomplish using ToolBook. The content is very comprehensive and laid out in a way that even the greenest ToolBooker can follow while not boring the more experienced user. I've learned an awful lot just by browsing the code and trying to understand all the things that make this little jewel tick. As I don't have a formal programming background, it's been an excellent reference in learning to code the *right* way.
  • I've spent quite a bit of time with it, and I tried to pretend I was a new programmer. I felt, personal opinion, that it did an outstanding job of going over all the basics, while providing an introduction to advanced topics. I came away with the impression that the ideal target audience is someone who has just got a new job and that person needs to work with ToolBook and they've got some media or multimedia experience (maybe with Director) and they are re-tooling. That was my prototypical audience member when I looked at the program. And I thought it did an outstanding job of introducing all topics, with the ability to get additional information or to skip sections I wasn't interested in or found too boring.
  • It is really both a good beginners guide to ToolBook, as well a very good source of inspiration & information for more experienced ToolBook users. I spent quite a bit of time with it, and I suspect that I'll keep returning to it for inspiration.
  • We just had a new hire with no exposure with authoring tools take your course and after completion be able to contribute.
