User Comments

  • instructor" courses. When I took their training, I knew absolutely nothing about ToolBook and so it was a great way to come up to speed quickly. I still reference the CD for more advanced topics that I didn't use initially.
  • The Platte Canyon program is the gold standard. I wouldn't say that it takes the place of the reference manuals because each serves its purpose, but obviously it is able to demonstrate things that you can only describe in a book. Is it better than a week long seminar? There are advantages to each, but the CD is something that you will have and will be able to refer back to again and again. While ToolBook makes it easy for non-programmers to create CBT, I have found that there is a lot to learn about ToolBook. If you have a programming background, you should be able to get up to speed quickly and the books and Platte Canyon CD will give you the tips that you need to get the most from ToolBook. If you don't have a programming background, then you really need these tools to help you get off to a good solid start.
  • The Platte Canyon CD is your best bet unless you want a brain dump for a senior developer and even then your retention would not be as great. The "guru" would leave eventually and at anywhere between $750 to $1500 a day. The CD is a steal.
  • We've used the Learning and Mastering ToolBook Instructor CBT by Platte Canyon and found it well worth the modest investment.
  • As a more advanced user (not programmer, just developer), the thing that might be overlooked is Platte Canyon's (I'll just call them PC ... it's so correct ya know) decision to leave the scripts accessible to see how they approached some issues. I found that very instructive in many instances.
  • I am very new to ToolBook, and am enjoying the CD. It provides very detailed information on the tools, properties, and other things that are new to someone not experienced with CBT authoring tools.
