• Definitely get Platte Canyon's Learning & Mastering ToolBook CD-ROM training course. The great thing about it is that it covers beginner to advanced topics so while you will find it valuable today in getting started with ToolBook, you will also refer to it in the future when you are interested in learning more about OpenScript and some of the more complicated aspects of ToolBook.

• We've used the Learning and Mastering ToolBook Instructor CBT by Platte Canyon and found it well worth the modest investment.

• From an instructional design standpoint, I think it's a wonderful example of one school of instructional design: Laying out objectives, making sure you teach to them, using testing points along the way to make sure people are focusing on the important concepts, providing summary views, practice exercises, show me examples, along with a summative evaluation. I think there are other instructional design models, some relying upon more inferential and exploratory techniques, but I think they've chosen a very good approach given the topic. And I think they've done it in a way that works.

• I bought the CD and learned a substantial amount in a short period of time.

• If you are new to ToolBook, or even not so new, you should take a look at the Platte Canyon ToolBook training CD-ROM. It is well worth the money!
